Coupon Codes : Use Them or Lose Them

Shopping on Etsy and using a coupon is confusing for some, so I thought if I made a little tutorial it might help.
First, find out if where you are shopping has a coupon code active.  If it isn't in the first few lines of the shop information, click the word more and see if there is a coupon code in their profiles.

Here's a look at what happens when you click the More in blue :  First picture you don't see a coupon code, but second picture after clicking more, the coupon code pops up.

So by clicking on the read more blue hyperlink, the little box pops up and you can see the coupon code for the shop.  Always check if you see the Read More and see if there is a coupon code.  Some shops may even have it in the first line of their shop information.

Now that you have the code, enjoy picking and choosing your items and adding them to the cart.  Remember the coupon code you have will only be good for that one shop.  Coupon codes for that shop will apply to all their items in your cart.

Okay, time to check out.  Here's what your page looks like at Check Out .

Look right under the words PayPal Visa MasterCard  American Express  Discover,  there is a small blue line that reads  Apply Shop Coupon Code.

Now click that blue line :  Apply Shop Coupon Code and another box pops up with a space for you to put in the coupon code.

Put in your code, click on the green box : Check out with Paypal and the Coupon will be applied.

Good Deeds Small Packages and Pizza

Mom lives about five hours from me, so visits can be few and far between with everyone's schedule.  Mom also loves pizza.  Now there is a point to this.  Since mom is more than 80 years old (she would kill me if I said the actual number)  she isn't quite as tech savvy as she would like to be at times.
You know the phone call , " my computer won't let me read my emails, it keeps asking me to open the window. Why do I have to open a window to read an email, it's cold in this house already."
"No Mom, not your house window, just click on that little box that reads open the window."
" Well, why didn't they just say click on the box."
"I don't know Mom, but why are you reading email at 2am and then calling me?"
"Well, I couldn't sleep and I knew you would have the answer."
"Goodnight."

So what about pizza ?  Where she lives she gets three meals a day from a wonderful dining service, everything healthy and low fat.  Prison food is what she calls it,  healthy and organic is what it is. She lives independently, just has a meal service.  So along comes Valentine's Day and I thought, why not just send her some pizza.
If I can call my local Dominos, give them my credit card and they deliver pizza to my house, then why can't I do it for any Dominos and have them deliver it anywhere.  So that is what I did.

I called the local Dominos in her town,  gave them the order, paid with my credit card and in 30 minutes (or less), Mom had two pizzas and an order of cheesy bread.  Well, Mom, three neighbors, the chihuahua, her cleaning lady and apparently my step-father was allowed one slice.

Point :  Why in the world are we all wearing ourselves out buying presents, boxing them up and mailing them all over the US.  If there are places that deliver food in a town, imagine getting to provide a favorite meal to someone, no cooking, no cleaning.

I did a little investigating and there are 17 places in my mom's town that will deliver right to her door. With cell phones now, I can make that call, give them the info and have it delivered.

Don't worry about food not being delivered, they never knew I wasn't the person accepting the delivery.  And on Dominos they even have a tracker system online so you can track your order.

Stop fretting about what to give someone, give them dinner.  Think about it, when a family member is sick, when there is a busy night in a friend's life, when you just want to make someone giggle out loud, send them dinner.

Now, did you ever think of doing this ?  Have you ever done something similar.  Share with me.
Total cost for the order and tip : $20.00.  That was fun.

Whats on The Kindle / Nook

Before I was given my Kindle Fire for Christmas (thank you farmer), I had an IPad and was using the Nook app for the IPAD.   I re-gifted the IPAD to an extremely happy grandson and now have my "smart"phone and the Kindle Fire, everything much easier for me.  Anyway, I was able to keep my Nook account and just transfer it and all my purchases to my phone.  Thank goodness, because there were books waiting to be read.

Here is what I am currently reading, actually for the second time.  I am learning so much from this book, now so much about business but about accepting my style of business sense and that it is okay to be a bit unconventional.  I love the chapter about not keeping things top secret and how sharing with others really makes you a stronger business.  It's been my theory all along.  Several of my blog posts have been about how to find items and where I go to find inventory.  (that made some people gasp).  Anway REWORK is fantastic and is an easy read.  I'll just post the review I found when I was first considering the book and you can decide for yourself.  I think it's the best $9.00 I've spent in a long time.

By Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson
Most business books give you the same old advice: Write a business plan, study the competition, seek investors, yadda yadda. If you're looking for a book like that, put this one back on the shelf. Reworkshows you a better, faster, easier way to succeed in business. Read it and you'll know why plans are actually harmful, why you don't need outside investors, and why you're better off ignoring the competition. The truth is, you need less than you think. You don't need to be a workaholic. You don't need to staff up. You don't need to waste time on paperwork or meetings. You don't even need an office. Those are all just excuses. What you really need to do is stop talking and start working. This book shows you the way. You'll learn how to be more productive, how to get exposure without breaking the bank, and tons more counterintuitive ideas that will inspire and provoke you. With its straightforward language and easy-is-better approach, Reworkis the perfect playbook for anyone who's ever dreamed of doing it on their own. Hardcore entrepreneurs, small-business owners, people stuck in day jobs they hate, victims of "downsizing," and artists who don't want to starve anymore will all find valuable guidance in these pages

If you haven't put the Nook application or the Kindle application on your phone, assuming you have a "smart" phone (i'm not for sure they are all that smart, just user driven) then I would suggest this as a free gift to yourself.  I like it when I'm sitting somewhere and have a long wait, I can read and relax. It even has all the bells and whistles so you can underline, make notes, etc.  There are over 10,000 free books you can put on either application.  I know some of them are those books you were forced to read in sophomore English, but I'm really enjoying revisiting the classics, too.

It's what I'm up to, what are you doing today.
